Yellowstone

Yellowstone's 2.2 million acres creep from the northwest corner of Wyoming into the edges of Idaho and Montana, offering plenty of untouched territory to explore. Carve out a day or two to take in the view at Yellowstone Lake and Mammoth Hot Springs. Bangalore Palace
A scenic palace which bears striking resemblance to England’s Windsor
Castle, Bangalore Palace is a scenic tourist hotspot with a majestic
castle-like structure set amidst lush green environs. It's like somebody whisked away Windsor Castle from Berkshire, whittled it down a bit, added some flourishes and planted it in Bangalore - fit for the Maharaja of Mysore to live in.
Of course, since transplanting buildings is still not something we've managed to crack, Chamaraja Wadiyar, the Maharaja of Mysore, mightily impressed by the medieval getaway of the English royal family, decided to do the next best thing: Create his own Windsor. The result was the Palace that we see today, surrounded by its famed gardens and strategicallyplaced cannons (it was built shortly after the Indian Mutiny and that's why it looks like a fortress).
The huge palace grounds are used for organizing various types of events and musical shows, most of which include rock concerts. While you are here, don’t miss the immaculately designed interiors of the palace filled with magnificent paintings and stained glass windows.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, in Bangalore, India, is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture and was the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan. Hyder Ali commenced its construction within the walls of the Bangalore Fort, and it was completed during the reign of Tipu Sultan in 1791. After Tipu Sultan's death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the British Administration used the palace for its Secretariat before moving to Attara Kacheri in 1868. Today the government of Karnataka maintains the palace, which is located at the center of Old Bangalore near the Kalasipalyam bus stand, as a tourist spot.
The rooms in the ground floor have been converted into a small museum showcasing various achievements of Tipu Sultan and his administration. There are newly done portraits of the people and places of that time. There is a replica of Tipu's Tiger, which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Tipu Sultan's clothes and his crown are present in silver and gold pedestals. The silver vessels given by a general to Hyder Ali is also displayed.
The Horticulture Department, Government of Karnataka, maintains the area in front of the palace as a garden and lawn.
Bannerghatta National Park
Bannerghatta National Park, near Bangalore, Karnataka, southern India, was founded in 1971 and declared as a national park in 1974. In 2002 a portion of the park, became a biological reserve, the Bannerghatta Biological Park.

Situated in the middle of the forests in the valley of the famous Champakadhama hills, the Bannerghatta National Park, a rich natural zoological reserve, works towards conservation of wildlife and promotes responsible wildlife tourism.
Located just 22 kilometres south of Bangalore, it takes roughly one and a half hours to get there. It’s one of the few natural parks in the world that preserves wildlife in such close proximity to a city.
It comprises a zoo, safari, butterfly park and rescue center that carries out conservation and rehabilitation of orphaned animals. The animals of the park are provided with an ambience that allows them to live in harmony with nature.

Wonderla Amusement Park
Wonderla Holidays Limited is a leading amusement park designing and operating company in India headquartered near Bidadi, 28 kilometres from Bangalore. Vidhana Soudha
Built in 1954, Vidana Soudha is a landmark of Bangalore. This enormous building is a massive example of neo-Dravidian architecture, with four domes on its four corners. It houses the Legislative Chamber of Karnataka Government, as well as accommodates many government departments. It's stunningly illuminated at night.
The Vidhana Soudha has four floors above and one floor below ground level and sprawls across an area of 2,300 by 1,150 feet (700 m × 350 m). It is the largest Legislative building in India. Its eastern face has a porch with 12 granite columns, 40 feet (12 m) feet tall. Leading to the foyer is a flight of stairs with 45 steps, more than 200 feet (61 m) wide. The central dome, 60 feet (18 m) in diameter, is crowned by a likeness of the Indian national emblem.
ISKCON Lord Krishna Temple
The Radha Krishnachandra Temple in Bangalore has idols of Radha and Krishna and is one of the largest ISKCON temples in the world. Inaugurated in 1997, the temple promotes Vedic culture and spiritual learning. The temple attracts people from across the world and offers a truly peaceful experience to its visitors.

Lalbagh
The Lalbagh Botanical Garden spread across 40 acres was built in 1760 by Hyder Ali, one of the most famous rulers of old Mysore and the father of Tipu Sultan. The garden was to begin with designed in Mughal style, but was later also developed under the influence of Tipu Sultan and then the British. The garden saw an extension of area and now covers 240 acres of land.
The lush garden is renowned internationally for horticulture studies and for its well-maintained treasure trove of plant species. Today, the garden has about 1,854 species of plants. It is a beautiful public space for healthy recreation bringing people close to nature. Lalbagh has well-laid out roads, paths, seating spaces and of course plants.
The centre stage of Lalbagh is the charming Glass House that was made for acclimatizing the exotic species. It also holds the famous biannual flower shows in January and August.

Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills or Nandidurg is an ancient hill fortress in southern India, in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka state. It is 10 km from Chickballapur town and approximately 60 km from the city of Bengaluru. The hills are nestled between the neighboring towns of Nandi, Muddenahalli, and Kanivenarayanapura.

Agonda Beach, Goa

Lighthouse Beach, Kovalam Kerala
The southernmost beach, the Lighthouse Beach is the one most frequented by tourists, Lighthouse Beach got its name due to the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse located on a rocky promontory here.
Its intermittent beams at night render the beach with an unearthly charm. Kovalam was among the most prominent tourist spots in India during the hippy era in the Sixties.

HAMPI, Karnataka
One

Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

1875, the Indian railways extended its line from Chennai to Tirunelveli

their journey at Ammaianayakkanur Railway station upto Krishnamma Nayak
Thope. This trek was undertaken to Kodaikanal, 18 kms distance away
using horses and palanquins, with coolies for assistance.
Today,
the charm of Kodaikanal lies in its wooded slopes and gigantic trees.
The mighty rocks, bowers, creeks and slopes captivate the visitors. The
meadows, the long stretches of forests, beautiful spots and the flocks
of sheep grazing on green pastures are a source of joy, delight and
thrill to onlookers. The climb to the various jutting rocks at Kodai is
rewarding. The arduous climb to the Pillar rocks, to a height of 400 ft,

OOOTY, Tamilnadu
UDHAGAMANDALAM
Called the Queen of Hill Stations picturesque, green Udhagamandalam
better known, as Ooty is the most popular hill station in the South.ooty
Located in the Western ghats at a height of 2240m, Udhagamandalam is
the headquarters of the Nilgiris district where the two ghats ranges
meet. Nature has been generous with this region, which is by far the
most beautiful in the state. Apart from coffee and tea plantations,
trees like confiers, eucalptus, pine and wattle dot the hillside in
Udhagamandalam and its encirons. Summer temperature is rarely higher
than 25°c with a minimum of 10°c and winter is are distinctly cooler
with a high of 21°c and a low 5°c. Curiously enough, this slice of
paradise remained unknown to the great southern dynasties and it took
the British to discover it in the early 1800s. They were, however, not
the first inhabitants of this land as a tribe called Todas had been
living there long before the British came, claiming that the Nilgiris
had been their home since time immemorial. But the credit for
modernizing Udhagamandalam and making it accessible goes to the British
who constructed the first railway line in the area and made it the
summer capital of the Madras Presidency.
Ooty with smaller hill
stations of Coonoor - 19 kms and Kothagiri 31 kms from Ooty are the
other hill stations of this district. Nilgiri is India's first
biosphere. It has been declared as one of the 14 'hotspots' of the world
because of its unique bio-diversity. Nilgiri presents a truly breath
taking kaleidoscope of visual treats and soul stirring experience.
Mysore, Karnatala
Mysore is the Karnataka's second biggest city, situated in Southern India. It was the erstwhile capital of the Wodeyar dynasty and is considered the cultural capital of the state. Mysore is the second cleanest city in India and one of the most well-planned ones. The people of Mysore are famous for their peaceful attitude and helpful nature.
The city has recorded history dating back a thousand years and a mythical history which explains the origin of the name - apparently, this was the place where the demon Mahishasura was slain by the Goddess Chamundi. You will find a statue of the demon on Chamundi hill which commemorates this event.
In recorded times, the city rose to prominence when it became the capital of a breakaway feudatory of the Vijayanagara empire named Chamaraja Wodeyar in 1584. In 1610, he shifted the capital to nearby Srirangapatna. Hyder Ali who was a commander in the army usurped power in the late 18th century. Hyder Ali was succeeded by his son Tipu Sultan, who fought and lost a war with the British, dying in battle in 1799.
The British restored the Wodeyars as their puppet rulers and shifted the capital back to Mysore. The Wodeyars had substantial internal autonomy and the princely state of Mysore (which comprised a large portion of present-day Karnataka) was probably the best administered in India. After independence, the state was merged back to the Indian Union and the capital of Mysore state was shifted to nearby Bangalore where the British maintained their army. The name of the state too was eventually changed to the more accurate "Karnataka" in 1973.
The dynasty is still well-loved and the people of Mysore are still nostalgic for the grandeur of the earlier times. The palaces built by the Wodeyars and the yearly celebration of Dusshera are holdovers of that period.
Mysore has evolved from being a quiet and sleepy city, to a city that is touted to being the most important one in the state after Bangalore. With apartment complexes, supermarkets, a couple of proposed malls, new and improved roads, the advent of IT and BPO firms and a growing young and dynamic workforce , this regal city is trying to strike a balance between the good old days while to keep up pace with the changes affecting it.
A city that is old, yet new. A modern-day paradox in the making, anyone who lives in Mysore for long enough can't help falling in love with this place.
Kerala
A sliver of a state in India's deep south, Kerala is shaped by its landscape – almost 600km of glorious Arabian Sea coast and beaches, a languid network of backwaters and the spice and tea-covered hills of the Western Ghats. Chikmagalur, Karnataka
Chikmagalur is situated in south western part of Karnataka. Chikmagalur literally means "The town of the younger daughter" in the Kannada language. The district is named after its headquarters town of Chikmagalur. The major commercial crop is coffee. The hill stations around Chikmagalur are famous summer retreats since they remain cool even during summers. Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka is 12 Kms away from Chikmagalur. The district is dotted with many holy spots and tourist places. Number of rivers originates from the hills of Chikmagalur district and flow in all the seasons.
PLACES OF INTEREST IN CHIKMAGALUR
Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, is located in the Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats. Standing at an altitude of 1,930 m above sea level, it is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. Tourists can relax at this site that maintains a temperature range of 20 0Celsius to 25 0Celsius. The mountain range features grasslands, rugged rocks along the trek path and a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva on its peak.
The trek route begins from Sarpadaari, which is connected with Chikmagalur by road. Located in the Baba Budan Giri range of the Western Ghats, the mountain peak is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris after Chembra, Banaura and Vellari Mala peaks located in Kerala.
For adventure enthusiasts, the location offers an opportunity to engage in activities like mountain biking, trekking and road biking.
Baba Budan Giri Hills, famous for its distinct forest range, is a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims. The hill range, also known as Dattagiri Hill Range, is popular among tourists keen on hiking and trekking. Dattagiri along with Mullayanagiri are two famous mountain ranges of the region.
Located 25 km north of Chikmagalur town, the mountain range features beautiful shrines. Adventure seekers can hike through the forest to visit the historic shrine of Deviramma Betta. In addition to this, the hills such as Sitalayanna Giri provide scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Located in the Western Ghats, the range is a part of Chandradrona Parvatha Shreni, Chandradrona Mountain Range. The highest peak in the Baba Budan Giri Hills is Mullayanagiri, standing at an altitude of 1,930 metres.
Moreover, the first ever coffee cultivation in the country was carried out on sylvan slopes of this range in 1670 AD. Tourists can walk along the coffee plantations, during the flowering season in the months of March and April.
Kalahatti Falls, one of the major tourist spots of the region, is located at a distance of 10 km from Kemmangundi. The 122 m high waterfall along with its beautiful surroundings is a favoured tourist spot. Waterfall is also popular with some other names like Kallathigiri Falls and Kalahasthi Falls.
Nearby the Kalahatti Falls, there is an ancient temple within the rocks, which is believed to be constructed during the reign of the Vijayanagar Empire. The temple and the waterfall are said to have an ancient connection with Maharishi Agastya, a famous Hindu saint. It is considered that Maharishi Agastya prayed at the site for a long time.
Located at Kallattipura in Chikmagalur district, the waterfall is a symbol of brotherhood, as it is worshipped by both Hindus and Muslims alike. Kemmangundi, a nearby site provides a beautiful view of the stream from Chandra Drona Hill.
Veerabhadra Temple that was constructed during the Vijayanagar period hosts an annual three day fair in the months of March and April. Moreover, the location is popular among trekkers who start from Tarikere to climb up the hills to reach the waterfall.

3. Pangong Lake, Ladakh
Transporting you to an ethereal place, the Pangong Lake is located in Ladakh. This is a place where unblemished azure water is fringed by rugged mountains while cotton candy clouds float above. Feel the serenity and magic envelope you!
Pangong Tso can be reached in a five-hour drive from Leh, most of it on a rough and dramatic mountain road. The road crosses the villages of Shey and Gya and traverses the Changla pass, where army sentries and a small teahouse greet visitors. Road down from Changla Pass leads through Tangste and other smaller villages, crossing river called Pagal Naala or "The Crazy Stream". The spectacular lakeside is open during the tourist season, from May to September.
An Inner Line Permit is required to visit the lake as it lies on the Sino-Indian Line of Actual Control. While Indian nationals can obtain individual permits, others must have group permits (with a minimum of three persons) accompanied by an accredited guide; the tourist office in Leh issues the permits for a small fee. For security reasons, India does not permit boating.
Remember the scene from the movie 3 Idiots when Kareena Kapoor comes riding on a scooter to meet Aamir Khan? Those of you who have seen the movie, already have seen the scenic beauty of the picturesque Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake. Situated in the upper reaches of Himalayan Mountain range in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, the most notable feature of the lake is the ever changing hues of the lake.
Situated at a height of about 13,900 ft, the name Pangong is a derivative of the Tibetan word Banggong Co meaning “long, narrow, enchanted lake”. One third of the lake is in India while the remaining two thirds lies in Tibet, which is controlled by China. Majority of the streams which fill the lake are located on the Tibetan side.
Pangong Tso is about five hours drive from Leh in Ladakh region of Jammu & Kashmir. The route passes through beautiful Ladakh countryside, over Chang La, the third highest motorable mountain pass (5289 m) in the world.
The first glimpse of the serene, bright blue waters and rocky lakeshore remains etched in the memory of tourists. There is a narrow ramp-like formation of land running into the lake which is also a favourite with tourists.
During winter the lake freezes completely, despite being saline water. The salt water lake does not support vegetation or aquatic life except for some small crustaceans. However, there are lots of water birds. The lake acts as an important breeding ground for a large variety of migratory birds like Brahmani Ducks, Rare black necked cranes and Seagulls. One can also spot Ladakhi Marmots, the rodent-like creatures which can grow up to the size of a small dog.
Pangong Tso lies on the Sino-Indian Line of Actual Control and hence requires an Inner Line Permit. Most of the lake is in Chinese-controlled territory. Owing to Pangong’s proximity to the border, tourists are only allowed to visit the lake upto the Spangmik village. For the hardcore adventure lovers, there is a camping site on the shore of Pangong. But do remember that the weather tends to get harsh after dusk. The place is a photographers’ delight and camping is the only option if you wish to see the sunset and the sunrise.
4. Kullu Manali, Himachal Pradesh
Kullu Manali is the most popular honeymoon destination in India for those who are looking for hill station & covered with Ice. Doesn’t matter if you are getting married in winter or summer, if you come to Manali, you will have a great time that is sure.
Kullu (1220m) was once known as Kulanthapitha - the end of the habitable world. Beyond rose the forbidding heights of the Greater Himalaya, and by the banks of the shining river Beas lay the fabled Silver Valley. Kullu got its first motorable access only after independence. 7. Srinagar, Dal Lake, Jummu Kashmir
Dal Lake is Srinagar's jewel, a vast, mirror-flat sheet of water reflecting the carved wooden balconies of the houseboats and the misty peaks of the Pir Panjal mountains. Flotillas of gaily painted shikaras (gondola-like taxi boats) skiff around the lake, transporting goods to market, children to school and travellers from houseboat to shore. If you want to photograph the lake, bring a long lens and a polarising filter to cut down the glare from the water.
Most visitors to Srinagar stay out on Dal Lake in one of the delightful houseboats left behind from the Raj, but landlubbers can hire shikaras for tours around the lake, visiting floating gardens and the floating flower and vegetable market. It's a colourful spectacle, but expect plenty of attention from souvenir vendors.
Shikaras can be hired from boat stations all along the lakeshore and official rates are displayed on noticeboards.
8. Gir National Park, GUJARAT
Gir
National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary comprises 1412 sq km of
deciduous forest interspersed with semi-evergreen and evergreen flora,
acacia, scrub jungle, grasslands and rocky hills. Fed by perennial and
seasonal rivers and streams, the sanctuary has large water bodies like
the Kamleshwar Dam that are good for crocodiles and birds.
Gir
National Park, one of the Top Wildlife in India, is the only place in
the world where the Asiatic lion can now be found. Thanks to
conservation efforts, their numbers have been increasing. Gir is
considered to be the largest dry deciduous forest in western India.
There's plenty of other wildlife there, including around 300 types of
birds. You'll have the best chance of spotting a lion if you go during
March until May, although to most comfortable time to visit the park is
from December until March. Safaris run daily.

Gujarat, 360 kilometers from Ahmedabad, 65 kilometers from Junagadh, and
40 kilometers from Veraval. It's inland from the beaches of Diu.
